Pacquiao vs. Clottey
NEW: Pacquiao defeats clottey
Manny Pacquiao scrambled for a legitimate opponent after Floyd Mayweather Jr. demanded additional drug tests. The pound for pound king didn’t want an easy fight so he took on a solid welterweight in Joshua Clottey. Clottey is coming off a controversial loss to Miguel Cotto.
The Ghana native will receive his biggest paycheck to date for fighting Pacquiao. The stage is set for Pacquiao-Clottey on March 13, 2010 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium.

Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Shane Mosley
It’s about time that Floyd Mayweather Jr. finally fights one of the best welterweights in the world in Shane Mosley. Maywether has been dodging the best of the best in the 147lbs division. He has been criticized for taking on big money fights against popular but limited opponents. The self-proclaimed “cash cow” of boxing has avoided the likes of Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto and Paul Williams. This time around he couldn’t hide after the fallout of the proposed super fight between him and pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao.
Shane Mosley is always seeking out the best challenge out there. He was more than eager to fight Pacquiao and has already taken on the likes of Miguel Cotto, Oscar De La Hoya and Anotonio Margartio. Mosley became one of the most avoided boxers after he dismantled the seemingly indestructible Antonio Margarito in nine dominating rounds.
Mosley was slated to fight Andre Berto early in the year but Berto had personal matters to attend to. Mayweather also found himself without a dance partner after the super fight fallout. It was only natural that both parties came together and agreed to fight. [read more]
NFL Preview and picks for Week 14
It has never been seen before where two teams in the NFL have achieved an undefeated record. Of course we know that it has only been done twice in NFL history with the Dolphins and Patriots. But to have two teams, now that’s something. But here we are in week 14 and both the Colts and Saints still remain undefeated. Both of these teams know how to win, make brilliant comebacks when need be as well. Both teams are equally talented. Are both teams on the road to the Super Bowl? We’ll know in a few weeks.
Steelers at Cleveland - The Super Bowl Champion Steelers probably have been one of the years disappointments. It is doubtful that anyone would have predicted that they would be standing at 6-6 by week 14 of the NFL season. But here they are going into Cleveland with just that. The Steelers defense literally had a complete meltdown against a bad Raiders team that has the 31st ranked offense. To make matters worse, key receiver Hines Ward will more than likely be out for the game with a hamstring injury. And to add to that their top defensive player, Troy Polamalu will be out with an injured knee. Could the feeble Browns pull off an upset? Highly unlikely with having the 32nd overall ranked defense. Lucky for the Steelers.
Prediction - Steelers 21 Browns 14
Jets at Buccaneers - With winning back to back games, the Jets have helped their playoff hopes brighten a little, but going into Tampa, they will be doing it without their starting quarterback, Mark Sanchez. Kellen Clemens will be taking his place in what will be their important home stretch of games. Clemens has not started a game since 2007, but he may not have to worry about passing much since the Jets have the number one running game in the NFL, averaging 168 yards per game. The Buccaneers on the other hand simple have not been able to get out of the starting gate with just one win to show for it. Their rookie coach Raheem Morris is not have a season that he had hoped for. Like the hapless Rams, this is a young team with mediocre to average talent. The Jets should be able to continue their hunt for a playoff spot.
Prediction - Jets 28 Buccaneers 10

UFC 107 preview
UFC 107 will take place on December 12 in Memphis, Tennessee. The main event will feature UFC lightweight champion BJ Penn (14-5) versus the challenger Diego Sanchez (21-2).
Penn beat Kenny Florian in his last match and is back where he belongs - the top spot and king of the UFC lightweight division. It looks like no one can beat Penn. He has the best stand-up and ground game in the 155-lb division.Diego Sanchez earned this title shot against Penn after reeling off four straight wins. Sanchez beat Clay Guida and Joe Stevenson to claim number one contender status. [read more]
NFL Predictions for Week 12
Packers at Lions - There was a day when this used to be a pretty fun match up on Thanksgiving Day, but as of late, the Lions haven’t been much competition on Thanksgiving Day. Their last win was against the Packers back in 2003. Sure you might say that it’s their time to win, but; they are facing a Packers team that is standing at 6-4 in their division.
The Lions have been struggling all season and now will be facing the Packers without their young quarterback Matthew Stafford. Not only will they be short their future franchise quarterback, but they will be facing the number one defense in the NFL. It’s unlikely that the 2-8 Lions will muster up enough offense to fight off the Packers this Thanksgiving.
Prediction - Packers 38 Lions 17
Raiders at Dallas - The Cowboys are coming into this game a little banged up with a roughed up Tony Romo and their key receiver, Jason Witten, won’t even be on the field. Although they stand at 7-3 in their division, the Cowboys have been struggling. They haven’t been able to muster up any points through the first three quarters of their last two games. This could be a key factor in this game.
The Raiders may only be 3-7 but they are coming off of a very good win for them last week and are rallying behind their new quarterback Bruce Gradowski. He was able to lead them to victory against the Browns in his first start since December of 2008. This could be an upset for the banged up Cowboys.
Prediction - Raiders 24 Cowboys 21

Week 10 NFL Preview
Another week has come and gone and as the next few weeks unfold, the teams that are on the cusp will probably drop off and the push for the playoffs will begin to take shape and a lot of teams will be set to fight for a right to play in the big game, for the big trophy.
Bears at 49ers – This game will already be in the history books by the time this article is released, but I’ll still go ahead and put it in this weeks predictions. Both teams seem like they both might have a shot at getting into at least the first round of the playoffs. Both teams need this win to help their position in their respective divisions. It will depend on which team realizes the importance of this game and how much they want it. With Singletary as the coach for the 49ers, advantage is probably the 49ers.
Prediction – 49ers 28 Bears 21
Broncos at Redskins – With the Broncos coming off of a two game losing streak, still remain at the top of their division, but a 3rd loss might send this team into a tail spin and they might start doubting themselves. Luckily though for them, they are facing a down trodden Redskins team that still has only won two games, and one of those a close one against, none other than the hapless St. Louis Rams. The Broncos should have no problem here.
Prediction – Broncos 35 Redskins 28
Bills at Titans – When the Titans were without Vince Young, they couldn’t win a single game. Since he’s been back, they have won two in a row and are looking to win their third one when the Bills come to town. With Kerry Collins struggling and the defense riddled with injuries, the Titans just may have a fair shot at winning their third in a row.
Prediction – Titans 28 Bills 21 [read more]
UFC 105 Preview
Couture vs. Vera
UFC 105 will take place on November 14 in Manchester, England. The main event will be Randy Couture (16-10) versus Brandon Vera (11-3) in a Light Heavyweight match. This will be Couture’s return to light heavyweight since losing to Chuck Liddell in a championship bout.
Brandon Vera was one of the most promising light heavy/heavyweight fighters before losing three of his six last fights. Vera’s single notable win is over former UFC champion Frank Mir. Besides that all the hype that followed him before his three loses was merely heresy.
Randy Couture signed a new six-fight deal before he lost to Nogueira, meaning that Couture will be involved in more upcoming UFC blockbusters. His two previous losses were competitive enough to erase any doubts that Couture can continue as a major player in the UFC.
Randy “The Natural” Couture
Couture is 46 years young and proved against Nogueira that he still packs a punch. He is smart dropping to 205lbs because the heavyweights are simply too big for him. At least in a crowded 205lbs division, there are big names he can choose from and fight blockbuster matches. [read more]
The Top Five NFL Quarterbacks of 2009
So who are the top five quarterbacks thus far in 2009? You might be surprised who comes out on top this season, and it’s not Peyton Manning.
1.

Matt Schaub of the of the Houston Texans surprisingly enough is rated the number one QB to date. This is Schaubs 6th season in the NFL and if finally beginning to make a name for himself. The QB out of Virginia has thru the 9th week of the season has 16 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, has passed for 2,342 yards and has a quarterback rating of 100.5.
2. Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts is having another stellar year to pad his career stats. Although he has a higher quarterback rating at 109.3, than Schaub he still comes in second as a very close 2nd with 15 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and 2,222 yards passing. With these stats the possibility of him overtaking the number one spot is possible.
3. Ben Roethlisberger, Super Bowl Champion quarterback, comes in at 3rd at the midway mark of the season. This is also Ben’s 6th season in the NFL and has gradually worked his way up the quarterbacks chart. So far to this point in the season he has 11 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, 2,062 yards passing a quarterback rating of 102.6 which makes him in a heated race with the other two to take over 1st place by the end of the year.
4. Philip Rivers of the San Diego Chargers comes into his 6th season finding himself in the top five. Although the Chargers aren’t having an overwhelmingly good season with a 4-3 record, if Rivers continues to improve during the 2nd half of the season, the team as a whole could improve. At this point in the season Rivers has 11 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 2036 yards passing and a quarterback rating of 95.9.
5. Tom Brady of the New England Patriots is halfway through his 10th season and still finds himself in the top five, although he’s had far better seasons, there’s still plenty of time to move up higher on the top five list. So far at this point, Tom has 15 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 2,032 yards passing and a quarterback rating of 99.9
It will be interesting to see which of these quarterbacks will still be in the top five or at number one by the end of the season.
Stay tuned.
NFL Week 9 Preview
Packers at Buccaneers - The Packers will be rumbling into Tampa after their loss to their ex-QB Favre last Sunday, and no doubt they will be in town looking for a “whipping boy” to take their frustrations out on. And Tampa are just the right boys to take it out on. At 0-7 the Buccaneers are backed into a corner and will undoubtedly be cowering when the Packers walk onto the field.
Prediction - Packers 35 Buccaneers 17
Dolphins at Patriots - The Patriots have a lot going for them this week. They’re not coming off of a bye week, but they are also coming off of two extremely lopsided wins prior to the bye week. And last but not least they are playing at home. Wow Miami has already got a big hole to be digging out. Miami’s offense is suspect, in their last outing they only managed 104 yards but were lucky enough to get 21 points in the 3rd quarter with their defense. But it’s not likely the defense will be that lucky this week.
Prediction - Patriots 38 Dolphins 21
Chiefs at Jaguars - The Chiefs go to Jacksonville this week without Larry Johnson their starting running back, due to disciplinary reasons, and without him, there’s not much of an offense. The Chiefs are one of the worst offenses in the league ranking 30th . The only thing that might be a factor in this game is the fact that the Jaguars rank nearly at the bottom of the league in defense. Don’t expect much scoring fireworks in this game. Take your choice, it could go either way in this game. But I’ll make a prediction anyway.
Prediction - Jaguars 13 Chiefs 10
Texans at Colts - Texans probably have the best team they’ve had since entering into the NFL, but they will be traveling to unfriendly territory this week, with a team led by Peyton Manning, that are on fire at 7-0, so it’s unlikely that the Texans will be able to even think of beating down Manning who is have another career year.
Predictions - Colts 45 Texans 30 [read more]
The NFL Week 8 Preview and Picks Season 09/10
Another week has gone by and some teams like the Chiefs, Browns, Lions, Redskins, Seahawks and others have barely gotten out of the starting gate, whereas teams like the Broncos, Saints, Colts and Vikings are so far ahead of the rest of the pack, it would take a miracle now at mid season to stop them. And then of course there are those team like the Rams, Buccaneers and Titans that haven’t even gotten out of the starting gate with their winless records. How ironic it is to see the Rams and Titans in the raise for the # 1 draft pick of 2010 on their 10th anniversary of their trip to the Super Bowl against each other.
But I digress, let’s see what we are in store for in week eight of this NFL season. [read more]
