England Premier League Preview 25th October

Sports News - January 28, 2009

Sunday, October 25th features a few games but if you’re going to watch one game Sunday it should be Liverpool against Manchester United. Must-see match-up especially with a struggling Liverpool team that is long overdue for a win.
Liverpool (8th place, 15 points) against Manchester United (1st place, 22 points)

Liverpool is riding a two game losing streak in the EPL (four total including the Champions League) but a return home is just what this team needs. Injuries to Torres, Gerrard and Johnson have plagued them the past few games. Their previous lost was to Sunderland 1-0 by a deflection off a red ball thrown into the pitch. They will have no excuses against Manchester United once Torres and Johnson are inserted back to the lineup. Gerrard is still uncertain because of an injured hamstring.

Manchester United cruised at home against the Bolton Wanderers 2-1. Knight’s early own goal gave Man United the early lead and Valencia sealed the deal with a goal at the 33rd minute. Man U played without striker Wayne Rooney and he is still not sure if he can play against Liverpool.

Liverpool is due for a win and with the return of Torres and Johnson, they could do it against rival Manchester United. It’s a tough call but I’m leaning towards Liverpool especially with Rooney out and Owen looking out-of-sync last game.

Manchester City (5th place, 17 points) against Fulham (12th place, 10 points)

Striker Craig Bellamy and defender Kolo Toure will likely make their return against Fulham. Both missed the previous game against Wigan Athletic that ended in a 1-1 draw. Tevez was very active around the net against Wigan Athletic which is a good sign of things to come for Manchester City.

Fulham pulled out a home win against Hull City 2-0 last game. They’ll return home against Manchester City. Zamora struck late in the first half and Kamara scored early in the second to seal the deal for Fulham. Fulham could’ve scored more goals but they were sloppy with their attempts.

Manchester City will pull out the win against Fulham this Sunday.

West Ham United (19th place, 5 points) against Arsenal (4th, 19 points)

West Ham is coming off a 2-1 loss to Stoke City. They’ll have a tough time playing at Boleyn Ground with Arsenal’s rowdy fans.

Arsenal is coming off a 3-1 win over Birmingham City. Arsenal struck early with two goals and finished off Birmingham with a goal at the 84th minute. Robin van Persie and Abou Diaby scored the two early goals for Arsenal.

Do we even need to talk about this? Arsenal by sheer domination. West Ham United will be lucky to pull off a draw.
