Week 10 NFL Preview
Another week has come and gone and as the next few weeks unfold, the teams that are on the cusp will probably drop off and the push for the playoffs will begin to take shape and a lot of teams will be set to fight for a right to play in the big game, for the big trophy.
Bears at 49ers – This game will already be in the history books by the time this article is released, but I’ll still go ahead and put it in this weeks predictions. Both teams seem like they both might have a shot at getting into at least the first round of the playoffs. Both teams need this win to help their position in their respective divisions. It will depend on which team realizes the importance of this game and how much they want it. With Singletary as the coach for the 49ers, advantage is probably the 49ers.
Prediction – 49ers 28 Bears 21
Broncos at Redskins – With the Broncos coming off of a two game losing streak, still remain at the top of their division, but a 3rd loss might send this team into a tail spin and they might start doubting themselves. Luckily though for them, they are facing a down trodden Redskins team that still has only won two games, and one of those a close one against, none other than the hapless St. Louis Rams. The Broncos should have no problem here.
Prediction – Broncos 35 Redskins 28
Bills at Titans – When the Titans were without Vince Young, they couldn’t win a single game. Since he’s been back, they have won two in a row and are looking to win their third one when the Bills come to town. With Kerry Collins struggling and the defense riddled with injuries, the Titans just may have a fair shot at winning their third in a row.
Prediction – Titans 28 Bills 21
Saints at Rams – OK, this is some match up. The Rams may have broken their 17 game losing streak and are coming off of a bye week, doesn’t mean they will be ready for a Saints team coming to St. Louis with an 8-0 record. This is a Saints team that continues to improve each week and are poised to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. This is going to be a tough game for the Rams. Bulger doesn’t have enough talent of his own or at wide receiver. The only chance the Rams have is to simply let Jackson run the entire game.
Prediction – Saints 40 Rams 31
Bengals at Steelers – These two teams are neck and neck for first place position in their division. Bengals are a surprise this year and have the same record as the Super Bowl Champs. Bengals have the talent to beat the champs, but the advantage should probably got to the Steelers being at home.
Predictions – Steelers 35 Bengals 28
Jaguars at Jets – Both teams are setting at 4-4 and rookie quarterback, Mark Sanchez, started the season off hot, but has now lost 4 of their last five. The Jaguars themselves have lost 3 of their last 4 road games and are hungry for a road game. Look for them to attack the rookie quarterback. Since Garrad has not had much success on the road, with no touchdowns to his credit, this could be a pretty tight game. Since it’s in New York, advantage should go to the Jets.
Prediction – Jets 21 Jaguars 17
Lions at Vikings – With the Lions now on another losing streak, that being 5 straight, it’s obvious they are simply one of the worst teams in the NFL. Going to Minnesota is not going to help their cause any. Even though there have been many games in which they have fought hard and score points, in the end they just can’t keep up with whomever they play. Old man Favre should have a field day.
Prediction – Vikings 45 Lions 30
Buccaneers at Dolphins – Even though the Dolphins and Buccaneers both stand at 4th in their divisions, Miami has the running duo of Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown and both of them have been thriving together. Another tough thing the Buccaneers will be facing is the fact they’re in Miami, which a lot of times turns out to be the home teams advantage. The Bucs are 0-3 on the road, so it’s probably not likely they can break that streak.
Prediction – Dolphins 13 Buccaneers 10
Falcons at Panthers – Matt Ryan has been really struggling over the past three weeks, even coming off of a win against the Redskins, which is nothing to brag about. The Panthers on the other hand is coming off of a big loss against the Saints and are probably still stinging from that loss. Yet the fact that Delhomme has the most interceptions in the NFL with 15, so both quarterbacks are hurting at this time and the game may come down to who can run the ball better. Falcons are weak at stopping the run, so this could be advantage Panthers.
Prediction – Panthers 28 Falcons 17
Chiefs at Raiders – This will be a match up of two of the worst teams in the NFL. They also have a lot of turmoil going on with personnel, especially Larry Johnson and this really hurts the Chiefs because Johnson was billed as their best offensive player. But, this is a match up that has always favored the Chiefs since the Raiders have not beat the Chiefs in any consecutive order since 2001. But, the Chiefs have a very suspect secondary and if the Raiders decide to utilize their passing game. That would give the Raiders the advantage.
Prediction – Raiders 17 Chiefs 14
Eagles at Chargers – The Chargers got off to a very slow start this year but have been on a roll recently getting them to a 5-3 records. The Eagles stand at the same record but the last time they were on the West Coast they lost to the Raiders. The Chargers are primarily a passing team and the Eagles will be given more of an opportunity to put themselves in a winning position if the Chargers don’t establish a running game.
Prediction – Eagles 24 Chargers 21
Cowboys at Packers – The Cowboys go into Lambeau with a 5 game winning streak and Tony Romo has been on fire lately. Romo has proven that it’s in the month of November that he’s at his best. The Packers have been struggling with trying to protect Rodgers, he’s had 37 sacks on the season so far, which could spell immense problems for Rodgers against the Cowboys pass rush.
Prediction – Cowboys 35 Packers 28
Seahawks at Cardinals – The Kurt Warner led Cardinals team is undefeated on the road which puts them two games a head in the NFC West. But they have struggled at home. But it’s the Seahawks that are coming to town and they have lost three games in a row to the Cardinals and come into Arizona with an 0-3 record on the road. Coming off a five touchdown game from Warner, advantage should be the Cardinals.
Prediction – Cardinals 38 Seahawks 28
Patriots at Colts – Again, it looks like these two teams will be battling for a right to the Super Bowl. The Colts are standing at undefeated whereas the Patriots have lost two games. Manning is having a career year, even without Marvin Harrison, so it’s Manning who appears to be in complete control of this team. The Patriots are determined to break the Colts 17 regular season game winning streak, but this might be something hard to do in the Colts home stadium.
Prediction – Colts 40 Patriots 38
Ravens at Browns – The Ravens probably aren’t headed for winning their division standing at 4-4, but they are heading into to Cleveland to face a Browns team that simply is going nowhere at 1-7. Like the Rams and Lions, this team will need a lot of time to fix their problems. Home or not the Ravens should be the victors.
Prediction – Ravens 24 Browns 13
