NFL Week 9 Preview

Minnesota Vikings v Green Bay Packers

Packers at Buccaneers - The Packers will be rumbling into Tampa after their loss to their ex-QB Favre last Sunday, and no doubt they will be in town looking for a “whipping boy” to take their frustrations out on. And Tampa are just the right boys to take it out on. At 0-7 the Buccaneers are backed into a corner and will undoubtedly be cowering when the Packers walk onto the field.

Prediction - Packers 35 Buccaneers 17

Dolphins at Patriots - The Patriots have a lot going for them this week. They’re not coming off of a bye week, but they are also coming off of two extremely lopsided wins prior to the bye week. And last but not least they are playing at home. Wow Miami has already got a big hole to be digging out. Miami’s offense is suspect, in their last outing they only managed 104 yards but were lucky enough to get 21 points in the 3rd quarter with their defense. But it’s not likely the defense will be that lucky this week.

Prediction - Patriots 38 Dolphins 21

Chiefs at Jaguars - The Chiefs go to Jacksonville this week without Larry Johnson their starting running back, due to disciplinary reasons, and without him, there’s not much of an offense. The Chiefs are one of the worst offenses in the league ranking 30th . The only thing that might be a factor in this game is the fact that the Jaguars rank nearly at the bottom of the league in defense. Don’t expect much scoring fireworks in this game. Take your choice, it could go either way in this game. But I’ll make a prediction anyway.

Prediction - Jaguars 13 Chiefs 10

Texans at Colts - Texans probably have the best team they’ve had since entering into the NFL, but they will be traveling to unfriendly territory this week, with a team led by Peyton Manning, that are on fire at 7-0, so it’s unlikely that the Texans will be able to even think of beating down Manning who is have another career year.

Predictions - Colts 45 Texans 30

Ravens at Bengals - Earlier this year the Bengals got a road victory over the Ravens and now face them at home. The two teams sit at 2nd and 3rd in their AFC North division and are pretty evening matched but the Bengals know that if they beat the Ravens on Sunday that this will push the Ravens two games out of first and it will move them in a closer races with the Super Bowl champion Steelers. This could be incentive enough for the Bengals to pull off another game against the Ravens. The game should be a close one.

Prediction - Bengals 24 Ravens 21

Cardinals at Bears - Neither team looks like they have any real chance at lasting long in the playoffs, up to this point with the Cardinals reeling off of a mistake filled game last week, with Kurt Warner tying a career high five interceptions. Warner is experienced enough to shake something like that off. What will really probably affect this game is how well both offensive lines protect their QB’s. The one left standing the most will probably come out the victors.

Prediction Cardinals 23 Bears 20

Redskins at Falcons - The Redskins are having just a dreadful year. If it weren’t for them playing the hapless Rams they’d be right there with the Lions. And now they have to go into Atlanta who is just salivating for a weaker team to strike against. The Falcons have been struggling some since their four game winning streak ended and the

Redskins may be just what the doctor ordered.

Prediction - Falcons 27 Redskins 13

Lions at Seahawks - Although the two teams are just one game difference in the win column, the Seahawks still aren’t anywhere as dreadful as the Lions are. The Seahawks are salivating for a win, desperate for a win and to make matters worse for the Lions is that they play in Seattle and are up against one of the loudest and probably the rudest NFL crowds in football, and that’s speaking experience.

Prediction - Seahawks 17 Lions 13

Panthers at Saints - Ouch! Just to put it as bluntly as possible, the Panthers, barring a miracle, have already lost this game. It won’t matter that they’ve been playing better football the past few weeks, the Saints are just too good, much too good. The Saints team this year is reminiscent of the Rams of 1999 - 2000. This Saints team, 7-0 and led by Drew Brees, are legitimate contenders for the Super Bowl this year.

Saints 48 Panthers 23

Titans at 49ers - The Titans won their first game last week after reinstating Vince Young at QB. Although this is a good thing, this still is the worst Titan team in a long time and with them facing a somewhat improved 49ers team under coach Singletary in San Francisco, it will probably be a little hard for Young and the Titans to pull off back to back wins.

49ers 21 Titans 17

Chargers at Giants - The last three weeks have not been very pretty for the Giants Eli Manning but the defense has even had a worse time than Manning. Although the Giants could be a tough team, they seem to be getting a little softer as the season rolls on. The Chargers, if they play smart football should be able to pull off a win here.

Chargers 28 Giants 21

Cowboys at Eagles - These are two teams that are pretty evenly matched, including their records of 5-2. It’s McNabb against Romo, which means it will more than likely be a shooting match and whichever QB shoots more bullets should be the one that brings their team to a victory. Eagles probably have the edge with the scrambling abilities of McNabb

Eagles 35 Cowboys 28

Steelers at Broncos - The Super Bowl champs aren’t having too bad of a year, with a 6-1 record, they don’t seem to be suffering a “Super Bowl Hangover” like some teams do. This will probably be a pretty close game and will probably come down to how well both quarterbacks play. There might be a slight edge for the Broncos, only because the Steelers defensive line is kind of beat up. The Broncos may also have the advantage of the high elevation and the home crowd. It will probably come down to the wire.

Broncos 38 Steelers 35
