Pacquiao vs. Clottey

Manny Pacquiao scrambled for a legitimate opponent after Floyd Mayweather Jr. demanded additional drug tests. The pound for pound king didn’t want an easy fight so he took on a solid welterweight in Joshua Clottey. Clottey is coming off a controversial loss to Miguel Cotto.

The Ghana native will receive his biggest paycheck to date for fighting Pacquiao. The stage is set for Pacquiao-Clottey on March 13, 2010 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium.

Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Shane Mosley
It’s about time that Floyd Mayweather Jr. finally fights one of the best welterweights in the world in Shane Mosley. Maywether has been dodging the best of the best in the 147lbs division. He has been criticized for taking on big money fights against popular but limited opponents. The self-proclaimed “cash cow” of boxing has avoided the likes of Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto and Paul Williams. This time around he couldn’t hide after the fallout of the proposed super fight between him and pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao.

Shane Mosley is always seeking out the best challenge out there. He was more than eager to fight Pacquiao and has already taken on the likes of Miguel Cotto, Oscar De La Hoya and Anotonio Margartio. Mosley became one of the most avoided boxers after he dismantled the seemingly indestructible Antonio Margarito in nine dominating rounds.

Mosley was slated to fight Andre Berto early in the year but Berto had personal matters to attend to. Mayweather also found himself without a dance partner after the super fight fallout. It was only natural that both parties came together and agreed to fight.  [read more]

Video Highlights:

During Pacquiao’s training camp for his fight with Miguel Cotto he was distracted with movie shoots, song recordings and politicians. But it was all back to business once he stepped into the ring against Miguel Angel Cotto.

With his scintillating performance Manny Pacquiao is now arguably the best boxer in the history of the sport. He punished Miguel Cotto and forced referee Kenny Bayless to stop the fight in the 12th round of their WBO championship match at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday. He is the first man to defeat Cotto without any suspicious circumstances and also the first boxer to win seven world titles in seven weight divisions. [read more]

Nicolay Valuev (50-1, 34 Kos, 7′ 2”) vs. David Haye (22-1, 21 Kos, 6′ 2”)

It seems that David Haye graduated with a Ph.D. in boxing thuggery because after pulling out of championship fights with both Klitschko brothers, he targeted the most susceptible of the heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev. Despite all the boasts Haye said against the Klitschko brothers, he knew he had no chance in a monkey’s anus of beating either of the brothers. In Valuev, Haye has found a heavyweight champion who is slower and most vulnerable against his speed. Haye knows that against Valuev, he will have the biggest chance of becoming a heavyweight champion. Haye and Valuev are set to duke it out on 7 November in the Nuremberg Arena, Nuremberg, Germany.

David Haye & Wladimir Klitschko Press Conference

Haye is unproven at heavyweight but no one doubts that he was one of the most dominant cruiserweights ever. His lone fight as a heavyweight was against an old-Monte Barrett whom he knocked out in five rounds. Haye will obviously have the speed advantage against Valuev and he must use that advantage to get inside and do damage. Valuev’s head will be somewhat safe from any “haye-makers”, so Haye must work on the Valuev’s massive torso. Haye will have a hard-time scoring a knockout over the Russian giant, so scoring points inside then darting back outside should be his strategy. [read more]

Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao will fight current WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto at a catchweight of 145lbs on November 14 in the MGM Grand Las Vegas for the WBO Welterweight championship.

Manny Pacquiao

Pacquiao has the most dynamic offensive attack in boxing today. His darting in-and-out confuses opponents and before they know it the “PacMan” gets in four or five combinations before the opponent can react. Undoubtedly, Pacquiao will use this strategy against Cotto because the Puerto Rican holds an advantage if Pacquiao chooses to box inside. [read more]
